Bringing to life twenty-three of Charles Dickens’ most affecting and colourful female (and male!) characters, Margolyes presents her powerful, comprehensive, and at times hilarious exposé of Dickens, his writing, and the real-life women who found themselves immortalised in his books.

Teddy Tahu Rhodes is now one of the most sought after bass baritones in the world, with his performance as The Toreador in Bizet’s “Carmen” at The Metropolitan Opera in New York hailed as a triumph. Both these singers are able to cross easily into other musical genres, and audiences and critics alike were hugely impressed by the versatility they displayed during the 2009 tour.

For nearly 500 years The Vienna Boys Choir, or Wiener Sängerknaben, has been an enduring symbol of Europe, working with some of history’s most notable composers such as Fux, Salieri, Joseph Haydn and Anton Bruckner and conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Leonard Bernstein, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Herbert von Karajan, Carlos Kleiber, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti and Sir George Solti.

The choir is one of the world’s most active musical ensembles and performs over 300 concerts a year. They provide the music for the Sunday Mass in Vienna’s Imperial Chapel, as they have done since 1498. Choristers also take part in opera performances at the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Volksoper and the Salzburg Festival. Also singing popular music, they have contributed to a number of soundtracks for major motion pictures in the United States, Japan and Europe.

In 2012 the choir return to Australia to premiere a captivating new work by acclaimed composer Elena Kats-Chernin.

The program also includes an eclectic selection of the choir’s own choral repertoire.
